Here I'm cutting the walls with a gouge.
More cuts:
Again the use o small rasp to reach the line, then I use the gouge again:
Back view:
Side view. Just advance to the next part when you have your work clean and cut to the line, this is VERY IMPORTANT, otherwise you will not have a good reference to continue your work:
For some reason or another, I had the thought that one started at the highest point of the scroll and worked back towards the fingerboard.... but by starting towards the finger board and working UP looks easier. If this makes any since???
It would be much more difficult working from the eye of the scroll in direction to the fingerboard, because we would have to remove much more wood to advance in the carving. The eye of the scroll is the last gouge stroke, and has some stylistic implications.
Wow it requires much patience. It is getting beautiful though!
