Vadim Gluzman played here yesterday with our State Orchestra, Berntein`s "Symposium after Plato"..... he produces the most powerfull and beautifull violin sound I have ever heard.... I fould incredible how he can play almost over the brigde all the time and even so producing such a fine tone...
For the encore Ysaye`s sonata no. 4.
A night to be remembered
Yes happy to hear this! I didn't knew his playing not even his name but with Laurie's interview + by the youtube (unfourtunately not very much vids) videos and just the way he talked in the interview I kind of guessed he would be an extraordinairy player and this confirms it! (yes "just the way he talked in the interview" seems very odd and dodgy as a way to guess the talent of an artist but I felt such an humble and "balanced" artist not to mention his big hands that, JUST IN MY OPINION very often (although not always) indicates a big/wide vibrato and power "potential" or "capacity" (the same thing as with Perlman and Oistrakh I mean). Also his education, when you hear "Bron" and Odessa it did ring a bell in my head!
Cool that to went to one of his concerts! I look forward at if or when he will come in Montréal!

Yes, you have to see him. Last year I saw him too in NYC, on the Frick Collection, with his wife pianist, quite a good recital too.
Cool they must play wonderful! How cool that his wife is his accompagnist because many violinists have/had pianists or musician wives but they didn't always have them as accompagnists or co-player. I have always felt sorry for those highly skilled musician wifes who gave everything up to raise the kids while the husband was having an exciting touring life.
Yes I have to hear them!!!
