Nervous while Recording, I am.

November 16, 2007 at 12:34 AM

Is it just me or do others out there get nervous and start messing up when you know that you're being recorded? I was asked to replay my offeratory that I had played Sunday Morning, due to the fact that they messed up the recording. (And might I add it was almost flawless) Anyways that evening when I rerecorded it I lost my place and that ruined part of the song, then I kept messing up! Arrgg! I was so angry. I still am for that matter.

I finally finished my church's teen video. It turned out good, it's a laugh. To bad none of you out there will be able to see it. : ( Although I know I could do better I've been trying to finish it since I started it last month. Well I'm done!

Hopefully I haven't bored anyone too much. I want a grand piano, if you would like to donate please e-mail me. Only joking, kind of.

Greetings,
yes. I just di a live recording as concertmaster of an orchestra for a nationwide TV program. We has to coordinate our palying with five semi nude women on rollerblades, a gaggle of octogenerian traditional dancers in Yukata and 120 young children in a chorus. The only way to rehearse this kidn of thing is to do complet run thoughs of which we did about fuive with no problems. When it cam to the live bit , although we had just done fiour progresisvely smoother takes I was suddenly nervpous and had to make a very consious effort to forget that there was some pressure to do well and just focus on the msuic instead. It took an effort of wil.
Cheers,
Buri

I have definitely been down that road.I have seen pro's that can dust off the stage turn into statues when the dreaded red light comes on.It doesn't really bother me,but I record EVERYTHING!.rehearsals,gigs,whatever.I have found it to be the most valubale thing I have ever done as a musician, because it allows me to analyze my playing.Soon, the only thing you will be worried about is storage space for your tapes!Next, you'll be thinking,"darn,I should have recorded that".........
