.::the touring electric violinists setup::.

I'd love to field some discussion as to how others spec out their tour rig when it comes to playing the electric violin. Here's what keeps me going 120 concerts each year...

-Zeta Strados Modern (4 string - amber)
-Zeta Strados Modern (4 string - black)
-D'Addarrio Helicore Strings
-Ken Beckman Bows
-Dunlop Crybaby Wah 535Q
-Korg Toneworks AX1500 effects processor
-Boss Loop Station

Please reply with other various setups.

what amp do you use?

Dang, nice setup.

Me, I use a radio shack lapel condenser mic suspended over the top of the bass f-hole, 1/8 jack into a home-brew pre-amp. That's all I worry about; it's up to whoever hires me to give me something to plug into. :)

Of course, I didn't quit my day job, either.

I used to run a Crate GX212 solid state, and a Fender Reverb Twin, and a Roland keyboard amp. Of the 3, the Roland keyboard amp was the best for the electric violin.

Currently however, I just run my violin direct from my processor into a DI box and run in-ear monitors to hear myself and band. Its the way to go. Protects the ears and the sound never leaves your ears regardless of where you are on stage.

I'm nowhere near professional, but my setup is Jordan Electric Violin 5 string, Sensicore Strings, Dual Hybrid Barbara pickup. Coda electric violin bow, Pandora PX4 effects processor (allows me to wear it on a belt), Genz Benz Shen Pro amp (amp is freaking awesome), all cabling is monster cable.

monster cables are the way to go. lifetime warranty. i suggest trying the crybaby 535Q wah pedal - you'll likey likey. even to a clean signal, its a great effect!
