.::MY RELEASE::.

December 15, 2005 14:05

It was the combination of many things. This past Friday night's concert, the week that led up to it, and the constant struggle to maintain professionalism and artistry that got me thinking...

If you have read my blogs before, you know where I'm going.

It was a week full of headache and frustration that got me started. The headache was from fighting normalcy and the rut and its cost versus the alternative of being creative, fresh, and cutting edge.

What happened was that people were being stretched. I was being stretched. And being in that situation is always a bit uncomfortable. Conversely, I've never grown a great deal in times of ease and comfort; I was getting reamed from outside sources on the subject of change.

I think in terms of broadening, escaping, creating, trying, failing, re-cooping, and making adjustments. It’s far easier to learn, excel, and plateau. But I find it essential to not simply regurgitate what’s been done and has proven successful, but rather create and inspire. After all, it’s those in the past that took a departure from the norm, created something new, and eventually changed the world.

It’s that same mentality that needs to be prevalent today, in order for new generations of musicians and artists to be inspired.

So…Friday night I performed and the crowd was excited and moved by the music. It was all original and it was my much needed release from the rest of the week’s turmoil and frustration.

Stay classy musicians!
