Thoughts keeping me up far too late

February 6, 2008 at 3:53 AM

I had a good violin lesson today. We worked more on the Bruch Concerto, and I also got new music! Hooray! It is the 'Meditation from Thais.' I can't wait to sink my teeth in it. I have a beautiful recording of it by Joshua Bell, and I always find that I appreciate a piece more when I actually work on it myself. I get to know the intricacies of it, and it gives me that much more respect to those who can play it really well. I think that is one drawback to playing things effortlessly; hardly any one realizes how much work it actually is.
