Violin is too hard.

March 3, 2009 at 5:20 PM

I think I'll take up autoharp instead.

The violin is only hard when you give up.They're always be obsticles in your way- that one string you can't seem to tune, the note you never can hit, the songs that confuse you-but those are only there to make you work harder and better yourself.

Don't give up.

Yes, we are all crazy!  I love it so much but love its sound when played by a professional (a good one) and did not succed many times in getting this sound myself of course!  (but I enjoy seeing anyone who makes the effort to go onstage!) It is possible to have this sound for some sections of a concerto but you soon make a huge stupid fault that only an amateur can do! lol Though this is my goal and this is where I find my motivation.  Whatever you play (even as simple things as twinkle) make it sound like a professional with a professional sound. (I mean try...) This is possible for every beginner who have two things: a good violin and time.  No talent? Who cares because it is sure you will manage to do twinkle with a professional sound one day! The problem is that we are not satisfied with twinkle and always want more!  I heard this week on tv a perfect beginner with perfect average skills. A guy who was given a challenge in a tv show. His challenge: one week to learn about 10 bars of the 9th symphony melody of Beethoven.  You should have seen how difficult it was for him. The shaking in his arms was evident and he did not have control of anything.  He was terrified and so nervous...  Yes he got it but was happy to never touch to this thing again! The entertainer of the show said it was one of the hardest challenge ever given to his show! For those who want to play well one day, it's a lifelong journey. Especially for those who miss time. One can not hide this fact...
