had my first lesson yesterday in montepulciano - 1/2 hour, every monday afternoon. il maestro and i seemed to get along well - only thing he taught me in the time allowed was how to hold the bow properly, something i thought i'd already mastered. can't tell you how exciting this is. at the end of the day, what i'm hoping for is an improvement in tone and bowing and to learn how to read music!
photos to follow.
Well done! I'm glad you had fun and I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures! :D
2nd lesson - mid-bow up and mid bow down exercises, applying balanced pressure throughout for a steady, consistent sound. lots to think about here ... first, tentative reading of notation while tapping my toes - clean, concise, mechanical-like bow strokes which begin and end abruptly. the point is to develop pure notes, independent of each other - i feel like a robot.
blah, beginning of winter day today - montepulicano's piazza looking drizzly and gray - photos wouldn't do it justice.
still very excited.
