I'm having an affair

October 25, 2006 at 1:01 AM

I bought a cello yesterday! Why did I do that? It's now sitting in the living room next to my violin. I feel like I'm having an affair with the cello and cheated on my violin.

It could be worse. Someone on this site plays the tuba.

I couldn't resist it because I have been thinking about learning a 3rd instrument for a year or two. I feel guilty for some reasons, and I think I should be.

As for being worse, I was actually tossing the idea between cello or one of the woodwind/brass instruments!

Scott,

Now I have a violin, an electronic violin, a cello and a digital piano. That's probably because I got rid of my car and able to spend more in music. Public transport isn't that bad.

I find playing double-stops in Octave on the violin becomes easier after a few runs of scales on the cello.

Well, I was a cello player, and I borrowed a fiddle, so it was my cello I was cheating; but it was so small, I don't think that my cello even noticed it. But it turned out that playing fiddle was SOOOOOOOOO much easier to play than cello (for me) and I had all sorts of people to play all sorts of music with, that it quickly turned into an obsession, and now my poor cello is gathering dust in the corner of the livingroom. So I'm divorcing the staid and reliable cello, for a flighty young thing that I carry with me everywhere. No justice, but music isn't about justice.

Je ne peux pas parle espangol. Mais Je peux parle Francais Tres bien. Mais J'aime Anglais plus bien ;).

About the actual blog :). I have thought about this before too. I think that would be great to have a student become famous. But to have a student surpass you might force one to be a little jelious.
