Well, now that I'm a quarter into my senior year of highschool, a quarter into my freshman year of college, 1/10 done with college applications and two weeks away from my last performance with the Naples Philharmonic as a soloists, I guess it's time to start blogging again.

On top of taking Calculus and Intensive Elementary Latin at the university, I've been going insane trying to keep up with my high school studies and college stuff. My room looks like a secretarial bomb went off- papers, calendars, lists, pens, staplers, manila folders, and letters of recommendation are EVERYWHERE. And every piece of information has been written down, cross-referenced, backed up on my hard-drive, filed carefully in meticulously labled folders, marked on the calendar, reviewed by Mr. Neal, and copied two or three times. Just to add to the confusion.

I'm applying to nine universities:
Florida Gulf Coast University
Indiana University
Cleveland Institute of Music
University of Texas at Austin
Case Western Reserve University
Carnegie-Mellon University
Northwestern University
Vanderbilt University
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

All in all, a very difficult list of schools to get into. But I'm still young and can dream frivolously, leaving my parents with hundreds of dollars in application fees, plane tickets, and processing fees to pay. Right?

I've already auditioned at FGCU this past weekend. It didn't go as well as I wanted; my Lalo was out of tune and the Paganini was very messy. Although I think I did very well on teh sight-reading and fairly on the theory exam (considering I've never had theory before). But I have three months or so until my next auditions, so I have lots of time to perfect things.

On top of this, as I said, I'm performing the Symphonie Espagnol, Mov. I with the Naples Philharmonic on the 18th. I had my first rehearsal with them yesterday and that went very well. I'm so excited! There's nothing better than having eighty people backing you up while you play the Lalo.

Now, because I obviously have so much spare time on my hands, I've also been trying out violins for college, with Mr. Neal's help. I'm becoming quite attached to a Cornellisen (I hope I spelt that right) right now, but it's not definitive yet, especially since it's a tad out of our price range. But maybe we can finagle the price down a little bit.

So that's about what I've been up to. Now I must away to Calculus. Joy.

Hey Knot! Okay, important business to attend to:

Vandy - Dr. Huebl wants us to audition on the Feb. 8/9 weekend because her trio is performing that Friday. Can you make that one?

PS - Your life... sounds like mine right now! How random; I just blogged a few days ago. My last real blog was in June.
