College Results

School is coming to an end, and for a while I assumed I was going to take a gap year and work harder at my music because I got wait listed at DePaul. Oh...DePaul was the only school I applied to. (WARNING!! DO NOT ATTEMPT!!! ITS A HIGH RISK SITUATION THAT MADE LEAD TO: stress, crying, yelling, fear, depression, anxiety, scolding, and/or anger.) Once I got wait listed, I thought for sure that I would not receive financial aid.

Well, in early May, I found out that I got accepted to DePaul on a full ride. Wow...didn't see that one coming.

I've played viola for barely 3 years and those two years was the first time I had private teachers (my first private teacher for 8 months and my current teacher since then) I played violin for 6 years, but not seriously and without a private teacher; I mainly taught myself. I also taught myself cello and for a while couldn't decide between violin and cello, and then I fell in love with the viola.

It was hard getting prepared for college...really hard. I have to jam years of private study into two years and then not be a nervous wreck when it came to my audition. I am very thankful for the two teachers I've had, especially my second teacher, Rose Armbrust Griffin.

So. Just because you start late and/or confused about the instrument you should choose, and you want to go to college for it, doesn't mean you won't be able to. If you start late and/or confused about which instrument you want, as long as you work hard and tirelessly, you can make your dream happen.
