Flipping a conductor

August 24, 2011 at 2:09 PM

Yesterday was a great day.

After dinner at a German restaurant the long overdue accounts were finally settled. By the ingenious stroke of fate the very person who tried to jeopardize my husband's concert last year where he played "Sinfonia Concertante", the energy vampire full of the eternal envy for any kind of talent, the chief conductor of Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, named Gudni Emilsson sat at the next table.

While we drank beer and ate Schweinhaxe, he tried to act as if nothing happened and it had nothing to do with his politics to "see our downfall" some time ago. His body language said something else, though. He was clearly afraid of confrontation.

And confrontation is what he got. My husband flipped him a bird as we were walking by and said a couple of words which I am sure, you all can get the meaning of.

By no means it was an act of vengeance, but it felt good.

We stopped caring about his lack of any professionalism, drug addiction and crazy behavior during rehearsals and concerts long time ago (spitting saliva and jumping 1 meter high in the air are apparently normal where we live) but we don't forgive butchering Mozart.
