If you are married or single, live in the country or an apartment, there are times you wish you could play your violin but can't because of the noise. At e-bay search - type in "silent violin" and look in the $125 or higher price range at what is being offered. Plug them into a head set and play, take to the street corner with an amp and get arrested.
Has anyone bought one and what do you think of them or wish you had bought instead? Where did you purchase yours? Are they worth the venture? Have you added to them with re-vibrators etc.? Which add on's do you like the best? How big a scene did your old fuddy duddy teacher with horn rim glasses make?
I found a small practice studio down the street from my office. I can go there at lunch. However, with the mute, I feel confident that I could practice in my office and not be a bother.
I have to admit though, the look of the Silent Violins is really cool! I do find myself still tempted. Outside of Jean Luc Ponty, I haven't heard one played before. He was amazing that evening at Wolf Trap. Perfect.
