Well I've just got back from Vancouver a week ago and now I'm getting ready to go there yet again. Can you believe that when I was in Vancouver last time I actually gave someone directions of how to get somewhere in Vancouver and they were actually from Vancouver? Anyways, I'm going back to participate in a concert that's being done in association with the Young Artist Experience program and Creative Peace Networks. It's a concert gala called "Peace It Together". There are going to be roughly 40 students participating in this concert. The YAE students get to do some of our string orchestra/chamber repertoire that we learned during the program and the other students (Israeli, Palestinian and Canadian students) who are part of the Creative Peace Networks program will be screening the premiere's of 7 short films on the conflicts in the mid-east and how it's affected their lives. As part of the concert Raffi (who some of you may be familiar with, hopefully at the very least fellow Canadians) has given YAE the rights to his song "Salaam Shalom, Side by Side" so that all of the students can sing together in a choir performance. It sounds like a really neat experience and I'm really looking forward to being apart of it.
That sounds good. Ever since 911, we end our yoga class with a peace chant that includes shalom, salaam, the word for peace in Urdu (the traditional language of the Vedic scriptures), and peace.
