Well, I had a very brief but very rewarding practice session today.... My first student of the day failed to turn up with any warning whatsoever (Grr), which put me in a bad mood, so I took it out on my fiddle. I did my kreutzer 2 studies in all parts of the bow, trying to keep the bow straight at the tip. I find this is one of the most difficult aspects of my technique to maintain. I seem to be keeping the bow nice and straight at the middle and heel, and my spiccato in the wieniawski was sounding very sparlky today. After about 30 minuites of very slow concenrated practice, It seemed effortless at full speed. Yay! It seems that all the practice from yesterday has sunk in, and I reaped the rewards today. But I didnt practice that much, only a few hours, so it might not seem effortless tomorrow. But I hope it does, if only my bowing didnt need so much practice to maintain! One week it is faultless, but if I slack off the jolly old Kreutzer for a while it starts to go a bit awry. I have recently changed my bowhold though (4 months ago) so maybe when I have this new one fully grooved in, it wont require so much work. I hope!!

do u think heifetz practiced kreutzer? lol....oh no! i said...heifetz!!!
