So student teaching has whipped by...and yesterday evening was my first time ever conducting on a concert, PLUS I premiered my arrangement of a mariachi song, "El Son de La Negra" (in string orchestra form...I do plan on adding some auxiliary parts).
The high school played wonderfully, and so did the junior high, and I had fun conducting the three pieces total. College seemed like it would last forever, but the semesters flew by, and student teaching started out really hard, but now I don't really want it to end.
Next Friday is my last day and we get to have a Christmas/Bon Voyage party. Thankfully the school is close to home so I can visit them next semester...and I'm playing in a pit orchestra for them this January.
Next chapters to come:
- Job interview (and hopefully getting the job!) at a middle school strings program for a sabbatical leave.
- Graduate School...will it be UCLA, Texas, or Montreal?!?
I am, however, looking forward to some time being reacquainted with my violin!
