Voice Lessons

November 28, 2007 at 4:02 AM

I discovered something about myself today. I can sing concertos by memory, not missing one note. But, when I play on my violin, I forget the notes. However, I recognize I am not having a lapse in brain muscles, but I just have not learned the the voice of the instrument like I know the voice in my vocal chords. How do I do this???????

My Japanese friend Megumi is so sweet.

Greetings,
you need to integrate your audiation with more data. For example, when practicing spell out very concretely to yourslef what you are going to play. IE verbal-okay this passage starts in 3rd psoiton with a d. Kinesthetic- what is the feelibng of this note or passage (before you oplace it) - what is the underlyign harmony etc etc.
Cheers,
Buri
