Reese's Pieces: Notes on Fireworks, Mozart, and Harry Potter

July 11, 2009 at 5:01 PM

It has  been a long while since my last post.  I hope this post finds everyone doing well.  This summer has been a very enjoyable one for me thus far, musically speaking.  Our most recent concert performance was for the fourth of July, and at long last, there was no rain so we were able to perform in an outdoor stadium, with a military honor guard, canons, and fireworks.  It was nice to have the opportunity to play outdoors.  The weather was especially cooperative as it wasn't too hot, and the wind was tolerable.  Currently, I am working on and planning to perform a number of Violin/Viola Mozart Duets.  I haven't had the opportunity to play them before, so I'm finding them to be very enjoyable.

On a somewhat humerous note, I was speaking with a younger individual the other day who plays violin, and he is very much into Harry Potter.   He likes to use Harry Potter terminology for music.  For example, if you know the stories, a musician having two musical parents would be a pure blood.  A musician having only one musical parent would be a half blood.  And a person having no musical parents would be a mudblood.  Being familiar with Harry Potter, I thought the usage to be a little humorous.

I loved the terminology, haha! I'm afraid I'm mudblood, though.
