The ole gentleman's back in shape !

April 9, 2006 at 11:00 AM

Well, I have my bow and violin back ! Made a long 2 hour(one way)trip to pick them up....on a miserable rainy/sleeting morning/afternoon. Left at 8am, got back home at 2pm....long morning! But I'm sooo glad to have them both back in playable shape !

I put them through thier paces when I got home...the bow is great...but I'm getting a buzzing sound from the D string on the violin..not sure what that could be, but I did send her a set up cheap strings to put on it for me..(they were all I had and not being sure how much all this was going to cost, I didn't want to add any more on to the bill than I had to). It's a darn good thing I still had the button for that bow !! It would have cost ALOT to have that replaced ! I found out that the bow is a "Sartory" ..not an original, but made sometime just after WWII.

I'll have to get my hands on some dominants and give those a try. Hopefully it's just the lousy strings and not something else.......I'm playing in church this am...I'll be using the bow, but not sure about the violin..I may end up using the loaner, only because I'm used to it and not as likely to goof up with that one...lol.
