The Making of The Quartet of Peace.

November 19, 2009 14:00

The Quartet of Peace blog

I have run into a few blogs on making, but none of them have had video of the making process, just still pictures, so this should be interesting.

The Quartet is named after the 4 recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize from South Africa.

"Each instrument will bear a name in their honour.
Hope for Nelson Mandela,
Peace for Bishop Desmond Tutu,
Reconciliation for FW De Klerk and
Freedom for Dr Albert Luthuli.
The culmination of the wood passing through my hands will be three special concerts to be held in Geneva, Paris and London." - from link above

The idea of having a series of concerts afterward with these instruments is also unique, and hopefully some of you will be able to attend them, and let us know how things turn out.
I only wish that some of the concerts were in North America.

I recently saw on PBS a show called "Endgame" with William Hurt that showed how negotiations started to end Apartheid in South Africa, and that this same process has been used in other conflicts to help as a model to help bring Peace in them as well.

Endgame

The latest post on the blog is about joining the plates together, so it is still in the early stages, so anyone who wants to follow the process, will not have to get caught up too much.

Cheers
