Is it better to audition for music school with standard pieces (Lalo, Bruch, Saint-Saens,..) or are lesser known ones (Conus) fine as well?

Hi everyone!
I have to start to decide on what romantic concerto I should play for my music school audition coming up next June. Right now I'm working on Jules Conus' violin concerto in e, and my teacher would like me to use it as an audition piece. I'm a little concerned though, because it's hardly known here in Germany, and I'm wondering wether it's suitable for an audition or not. The other options of course would then be concerti like Bruch, Lalo, Wieniawski or Saint-Saens, which are way more standard here than the Conus. I'd really appreciate any advice from fellow students, violin students or violin teachers! Thanks a lot!
I am an amateur and I like it that want to play Conus. I know that piece. You have to give those teachers repertoirelessons to play this piece. It is a shame that most techers don't know this piece, don't have it on there repertoirlist and only know and play the standardworks. It is also very irritating for me as Concerthallviolinconcertolistener always hearing those standardpieces. I hate them, because they are so often programmed and I don't visit the concerthall any more when these pieces are played. A friend asked me whether I was interested to hear 2th Prokovief of Julia Fischer. I have played this piece as 2th violinist in an amateurorchestra, so I was not interested. Other reason was that I gave 10 rare violinconcertocd's to the porter of the Concertgebouw, because I could not give them to Julia Fischer herself, because of a stalker, you only could speak her if you were on a list. I did not get a reaction on a mail with the question to Frank Michael Fischer and Julia Fischer: did you get my rare violinconcertocd's of the porter or producent of the Concertgebouw?
It is my dream ever to hear the Conus violinconcerto in the Concerthall and I don't care whether it is from an amateurorchestra, professional orchestra, very good professional orchestra and a average conservatorystudent or good soliist who plays the Conus violinconcerto.
But I doubt whether my dream will ever become reality. (I don't expect Julia Fischer will ever play it for example, but there are more soloists).
It would be a shame that the rarity of your piece should have influence on your audition. Those teachers should have been dismissed from their job.

I love the conus!
If I were you Id play what ever you do the best or whatever feels the most comfortable
I'd like to listen to that Conus concert, but I must admit I didn't know it at all.
Here in Villach there are many people from Regensburg, some are good friends of mine. Once I passed by on my way to Budapest but I don't know the city at all.
Liebe Gruesse aus Villach, :)
