Yay, some good news. I emailed my Theory prof and he recalcuated my grade and found he had a made a mistake and that my actual grade is an A-, much better than a B. Yeah, I still can't play violin all that well for some reason. My vibrato sounds crappy and my figers wont do what I want them to do, but yeah, I'm not giving up.

Andrew, I am an adult player who has long ago passed-by any opportunity of being anything other than an "OK" amateur, but I still love to play. As a parent, I have also had the opportunity to coach my son's youth basketball team. Although not exactly the same, there are many similarities between challenges and successes in athletics and music. The first practice after a very hard loss, I read the players (11 years old) the following quote:

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

The quote is from Michael Jordan.

I'm sure there may be something more relevant to music, but I hope you get the idea. Whenever I feel despondent, I remember this quote and remember that we grow through our challenges.

Hang in there.
