Simon Ballard

I'm a London based freelance violinist and viola player with a wide range of experience from classical to contemporary music who has several years of experience with the Junior Trinity String Time Program but who also enjoys teaching adults.

I am flexible with my teaching times and am understanding about student's other commitments.

I've played chamber music and in orchestras up and down the country including: Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Symphony Hall, Cadogan Hall, St Martin in the Fields, Bridgewater Hall, Institute of Contemporary Arts as well as appearing on TV and being broadcast on radio.

I play with the Billroth String Quartet - resident quartet at Lauderdale House, Highgate.

I studied with internationally acclaimed musician, Rivka Golani.

I'm happy to travel to student's homes around central, and zones 1-3 (e.g. Westminster, Angel Islington, Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark, Camden, Fulham, Hampstead, Highgate, Charing Cross, King's Cross, Canary Wharf etc.) Public liability insurance provided through ESTA membership.

As a student, I was awarded a full scholarship for post graduate studies, as well as winning awards: The Nick Roth prize for string ensemble playing, and best set work prize in the Greenwich String Quartet Festival Intercollegiate String Competition.
