I studied in youth, was among the best students in my age group, had some competency (ready for graduate study by 17), but my early adult life complicated that and I stopped by age 18.

I rented a violin a few years ago, and surprised myself to discover that while my left hand felt stiff, everything was familiar. I felt like I had been away only a few months, even though it had been 25 years.

I'm purchasing a cheap "better than VSO" soon, if for nothing else but the therapy of playing in solitude.
