Christine Robins

I'm 63. This is the third time around for me. I re-re-started violin in March, 2007, after not touching one in 20 yrs. I started out in my teens playing in school orchestras 6 yrs. But I stopped after high school.

Then, in the 1980's, I got very interested in folk and bluegrass, and I got a violin and played fiddle tunes. But I moved and didn't have anyone to play with, and sold my instrument.

Over the years I've spent much time trying to learn guitar and keyboards, but neither feels as natural or satisfying as violin.

I love a very wide variety of music. It's been wonderful lately getting re-aquainted with violin music of all kinds. Some of my current favorite players are Nigel Kennedy, Darol Anger, Mark O'Connner, April Verch, and Regina Carter.

My wife is a fine singer, and I'd love to accompany her on pop and folk songs. I'd be very interested in any information or advice about accompanying nonclassical singers, but I've never come across any.
