I am an advanced (student) violinist. I also play jazz and fiddle. I have been using the Flesh Scale System and find it confusing. I'm trying to find a warm-up routine that I can use consistently for practice and pre-gig warm up. One of the things I would like to do is all the major/minor scales (and arpeggios) by memory 2 to 24 notes per bow. I used to do this (using my teacher's method) but had switched to a teacher who believed scales were not necessary. I am currently teacherless and looking forward to getting back to my scales. :) I find that the Flesh fingerings confusing. Also, I'm not quite sure how to work through the book. What are some good scale methods/books? I've heard good things about Fisher, Galamian, Jahnke and Hrimaly. Also, Fisher's new book on double stops. Please help!
Hi, I would post this in the discussion board for more responses. Thanks.
