Lucia Micarelli

February 24, 2005 at 02:28 PM · Hi...I played in the orchestra for most of the Josh Groban concerts here in Florida. I can tell you Lucia is the real deal. I had many opportunities to hear her play with the mic off her violin. She left Manhattan and gigged for a while in NYC playing weddings. I also worked with her before she made it "big" on the Trans-siberian Orchestra tour, which was my first exposure to her. She's a lot of fun as a person and a passionate musician. This seems to be an importnat part of the future of classically trained musicians...the crossover world. By all rights, this is a violinist who should be enjoying success as a soloist with major symphony orchestras, but she has carved out a niche for herself playing classical/pop. Highly recommended.

March 4, 2005 at 12:38 AM · Thats so cool that you knew her when she went to msm! She is such a sweetheart! I think she is very much the real deal! (as is Josh in his area) I do think the crossover thing is big, and I think that Lucia has the abbility to go from a classical pop song to a true classical piece. I have heard it with my own ears she is amazing!

May 13, 2005 at 03:46 AM · A friend of mine recommended this CD, and I'm so glad he did. What an incredibly gifted individual!! Ms. Micarelli is a perfect example of why we have to fight to keep the "Arts" in our schools!! When kids have the gift of music, they need to have the opportunities to develop them. Which is obviously what Lucia Micarelli was able to do. Beautiful CD. Highly recommend

May 17, 2005 at 10:30 PM · I have her CD and she's amazing. I saw her on the Live at the Greek DVD of Josh's and had the oppurtunity to meet her when they came to Orlando. She is the sweetest, most talented person.

May 18, 2005 at 12:47 AM · Wow, someone actually knows who she is! I listened to her play on Groban's CD, and knew it wasn't Bell (and honestly liked it better.) After searching, etc. I found out all about her and now have her CD, which I treasure!

It is definitely different, and one of the things I really love about her is that she just made her own way. Her CD isn't about trying to show off or please the world, it is her playing what she truly wants and loves - and that comes across. The Sibelius excerpt was a nice touch, too. ;)

May 18, 2005 at 02:47 AM · I absolutely love Lucia. I am a huge fan of Josh Groban (www.friendsofjoshgroban.com). I bought her cd as soon as it came out last summer. It's very good. I love her rendition of the Sibelius concerto. She plays it solo and it's haunting. It's a fun cd to listen to. :-)

I became aware of Lucia Micarelli by watching the HBO show "Treme", a great series that I just discovered a week ago. Not only is she an excellent violinist but is quite the actor as well despite having no acting experience. There is a write up on her in this months Strings magazine.
