help with Vivaldi's Summer?

August 1, 2009 at 06:24 PM ·

First time trying Vivaldi's Summer.  Can anyone offer me some playing suggestions for measures 51-54?  (fingering, position, etc.)  THANK YOU!

Can you post a copy of those measures? I don't have that handy.

3rd Movement?

M 48:  Play squeaky As with 4th finger (7th position)

M 49:  Shift down to 2nd finger on the Ds (5th position)

Restez. and so when you get to M 51, you are still in 5th position, and can play the 8th notes on the G string, with the open D as the drone (Sopra il Tenore e Basso)

There are several fingerings you can do to get down to the Ds and C#s in M 53-54:

M 52:  3 1 2 -2 3 1 or, my preference,

M 52:  3 -2 3 -2 3 1

Hope that helps.  Fun spot!  Happy Practicing!

Oh, yes....it is in the III movement (presto).  I forgot to mention that.  Sorry.

Thank you for the suggestion...and for taking the time to help me!  I will go try it out.  :)
