The LA Phil also will mark Gustavo Dudamel's final summer as its Music & Artistic Director by featuring him in series four concert programs over four days, August 20-23. Those concerts will feature a special performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with members of Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA) and the Los Angeles Master Chorale joining the LA Phil; a concert with the Foo Fighters; and two concerts with programs TBA.
"The Hollywood Bowl is where my journey with the Los Angeles Philharmonic truly began, and it remains one of the most meaningful places for me to make music,” Dudamel said. "Together, we’ve challenged ourselves, expanded what an orchestra can be, and built a community rooted in curiosity and connection. This August, our celebratory programs bring together everything that has defined our work: the timeless power of Beethoven, collaborations across genres, and the extraordinary young musicians of YOLA, who represent our future. To share these performances in the place where I first stood before this orchestra, surrounded by the city and the stars, is an immense source of pride and gratitude."
On August 18, the National Symphony Orchestra will make its first appearance at the Hollywood Bowl with a celebration of American Music under Music Director Gianandrea Noseda.
There is also a Blue Note Jazz Festival and a July Fourth Fireworks Spectacular with ?The Beach Boys and John Stamos.
And with the Hollywood Bowl's stage recently re-named the "John Williams Stage," there will be numerous "Cinematic Celebrations" with performances of movie music including: Music from the Films of Wes Anderson, Joe Hisaishi’s Film Music Concert, How to Train Your Dragon, Top Gun: Maverick in Concert, Amadeus in Concert, Maestro of the Movies: A Tribute to John Williams and a Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music Sing-A-Long.
