Music is finally coming back
The COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on everyone - especially those accustomed to doing things in groups, like musicians. It's such a relief to see restrictions finally starting to ease; solo practice is so unsatisfying, and Zoom sessions are hardly adequate.
Last week a few of us from the community orchestra which has been shut down for over a year got together in a back yard and had a go at Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 6. (No violin parts, but we violists had a ball.) A couple of days later at a local park I saw two people playing guitars, and chimed in with fiddle and mandolin.
Life is starting to feel worth living again.
