New Gear Day

Edited: January 3, 2026, 6:02 PM · I just received the Pirastro KorfkoerRest Luna shoulder rest.i bought it from Sweetwater music supply because I’m familiar with them, and they don’t tack on shipping costs.
I’m reading the 12 page Manual. It also came in German.
It weighs about as much as a handful of feathers.
It doesn’t bend like the wooden model, which costs more. It came with spare parts and a bag. It’ll fit into my case easily.
I used to have the Portland rest, which came with my student violin. It kept falling apart.
Last year I bought the Sumi shoulder rest because that’s all my violin store carried. I never liked it all that much. But it isn’t horrible.
I read reviews all over YouTube and this one seemed to come out on top often.
I’ll give it a review here after I get to use if for a few days.

January 3, 2026, 9:19 PM · Congrats! I very much want one after trying my teacher’s. I’m currently making do with a SAS, but the Luna is both more secure and easier to store.
January 3, 2026, 10:06 PM · Both my kids use Lunas and love them!
January 4, 2026, 5:57 AM · Korfkers can make a difference in comfort. Love them both, but the wooden bendable model worked best for me. After so many tries with other rests, once I got a korfker, the search ended. No more feeling like my fiddle wants to fall forward. Course, had to doctor it up just a slight bit.

I hope you love your purchase!

January 4, 2026, 7:08 AM · Haven't posted in a while, but I would be interested in seeing how much you like the Luna! I was given the Kun Seven for Christmas in 2024, but the Luna as also on my "christmas list".
