Trigger Finger Surgery Recovery

Edited: November 10, 2025, 9:14 PM ·

A little over a year ago I took up weaving. During the process of setting up the loom and tying hundreds of tiny knots with delicate silk thread I developed tendonitis in the middle finger of my left hand. That developed into trigger finger.

Despite various medical treatments (mostly cortisone) the situation is getting worse. My finger is often very painful and it is now starting to affect my playing. The doctor is recommending surgery which by all accounts is a minor procedure but it would still make me nervous.

Has anyone experience this type of surgery that would be willing to share their experience in terms of recovery?

How long before you were playing again?

Did you have to ease into it or was it an immediate relief?

I make my living teaching and performing I’m on my instrument 15 hours a week more or less.

Thanks
