Mozart Concerto cadenzas

September 19, 2025, 12:09 PM · Does anybody use, have an opinion about Robert Levin's cadenzas for the Mozart violin concertos?

September 19, 2025, 2:01 PM · Earlier this year, I needed to learn a Mozart 4 1st movement cadenza in a hurry and read some advice in this forum's history about Levin. I tried the various endings and combinations and settled on #1, to #4, plus some personal modifications to the end of #4. Gulli was later also recommended to me as an accessible cadenza option. I imagine either could be useful for student playing or as examples for learning how to compose one's own. I'm working on Joachim for 5 right now and don't really expect to look at Levin again until a student needs it or maybe if I decide to play the earlier concertos (neither any time soon).
