The "Introduction" from Saint Saens Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso:

Edited: September 16, 2025, 2:42 AM · The "Introduction" from Saint Saens Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso: This particular part of the piece has always been a fascination in that there are definitely opportunities to bring out a sort of erotic quality both in tempo and dynamics. This is already documented.

I used to live in France and for what ever reason recently zeroed in on the word ' introduction' which in French has nothing to do with getting presented to someone one does not know or getting to to be an acquaintance.

Given this was written during the apex of romanticism and impressionism am I wrong to think that the title, and the suggested playing style, are more than meets the eye?

If so what is the best way to express it?

Thank you.

In addition, the spanish virtuoso Sarasate is associated with this piece. One interpretation is that the work was intended to demonstrate the full extent of his violin skills.

On the other hand, I think it's natural for a performer's individuality to be reflected in their playing.
