November 30, 2004 at 02:25 AM · I have only heard Kogan's and it is played superbly. However, whether or not you like the Berg is your own business! I believe that Milstein said that the Berg is 'glorious'. I can't see why just yet!

November 30, 2004 at 09:21 PM · Mutter's recording has got be my favorite recording of the Berg.

December 1, 2004 at 05:31 PM · Perlman

December 3, 2004 at 12:36 PM · I love Stern and Szeryng recordings. Somebody told me about Ferras' like the best recording from this concerto ever made, but I haven't heard it.

December 21, 2004 at 11:40 PM · I got a free cd with a magazine of Kavakos playing it really wonderfully a couple of years ago. Is there anything that man can't play?

December 24, 2004 at 05:37 AM · I enjoy the Menuhin recordings very much and was surprised to read a statement of Menuhin's to the effect that he didn't really understand the piece. (Or was that referring to the slice of rhubarb pie that Hepzibah slipped him after telling him it was cherry?)

December 28, 2004 at 05:29 PM · Anybody heard Szeryng? I have his recording on an old Lp, but haven't yet poured my cleaning fluids etc. on it and played it, so I don't know what to expect. It's with Jean Martinon.

July 24, 2012 at 03:03 AM · Szigeti. The 1945 live recording with Mitropoulos.

July 24, 2012 at 11:43 AM · i really enjoy Ivry Gitlis' recording (there is a video on youtube when he is quite old already, but i speak of his studio recording)

also, Ilya Kaler's recording is fantastic

July 24, 2012 at 12:08 PM · I got to know it growing up with the Grumiaux recording. You can't go wrong with that. About 10-15 years back I also saw on tv, a live performance with Mutter and the NY Philharmonic that was also excellent. True to form, Grumiaux's take on it is more reserved and subtle, and exquisitely etched. Mutter is more passionate.
