Lawrence University Music Conservatory

June 3, 2004 at 06:53 AM · My son plays violin and composes, and we are interested in your view about the Conservatory of Music at Lawrence University in Wisconsin. We dont know very much about it. It seems like Oberlin (both are colleges), but how do they compare? Any info would be appreciated. thanks.

June 3, 2004 at 01:25 PM · honestly, from what i've heard, lawrence is a step down from the better conservatory programs like Oberlin or Peabody. but then again i may be prejudiced because an enemy of mine goes there. but we do have a really good cellist here at SU that came from lawrence undergrad.... so i guess the best thing would be to ask former/current students of all the schools you're considering.

However, it is an excellent choice for students who are looking to complete a double degree. They also are pretty generous with their merit aid. It is certainly worth a second look.
