Hi, does anyone have any suggestions for teachers at BU? I am meeting with Yuri Mazurkevich, and I believe I will be on the waiting list for Peter Zazofsky. Bayla Keyes, who came highly recommended is already filled up for next year. Any suggestions? I should be able to get a spot in Mazurkevich's class, but I was looking for a teacher who would have a different and more free style of playing and teaching. I am very excited about going to BU next year, but I did have to turn down studying with Lucie Robert at MSM due to the fact they gave me no scholarship money at all. I hope this wasn't a bad decision.
Bayla Keyes is an outstanding teacher. Oh nevermind, saw that she's filled up. Sorry.
I would reccomend Roman Totenberg. He has a very strong background and has a long list of very succesful students.

April 16, 2004 at 06:24 PM · Mazurkevich is a wonderful teacher and violinist, and I think he also teaches with his wife Dana Mazurkevich (both are first rate violinists and teachers). Both studied with Oistrakh and both won international competitions, so you can pretty much count on getting very good Russian-School teaching from them.
