I played it in a lesson with Dorothy Delay and I said, "do you know what this (section in the last movement) reminds me of?" She answered, "No sweety, what?" I replied, "it reminds me of a lady of ill repute sitting sulkily in a dimly lit French bar with a glass of red wine in one hand and a cigarette in the other." She replied, "Oh, my goodness, it rather reminds me of a warm, summer afternoon."

I remember a similar conversation with a teacher of mine when I was a high schooler, discussing the opening of Prokofiev No. 1. He asked me what I thought of at the beginning, and I said, "I think of a lonely ghost, wandering lost in a dark, echo-y cave, with water dripping," and he said, "Well, I think of angels singing in a celestial choir. Can we try it more like that?"
