Hello All!
I've searched around here for any previous posts on string quintet selections, but not finding exactly what I need. I am teaching in a high school, and not wanting to take orchestral parts and turn them into chamber ensembles. I am hoping some of you can point me in a direction of quintets that would be appropriate for these kids. Most of them have very little chamber ensemble experience, but are super eager and work together on their own time. My experience is more solo violin with a little string quartet playing on the side. Help?! Thanks!
I actually have nine students in the group, but figured that I could just go with quintet music. Four violins, one violin, two cello, and two bass.
Check out http://musescore.com/sheetmusic Plenty of good stuff and with the program you can re-arrange at will.
Check out these categories on IMSLP:
If they have limited experience and some players are not that strong, have them all start out together first to learn the music, then split them later.
