ScoreCloud for violinists

March 19, 2014 at 05:55 AM · Hi violinists,

I'm a violist working for a small Swedish company that is developing a program called ScoreCloud, which analyzes music played directly into an iPhone or computer and instantly produces accurate notation. Professor Sven Ahlbäck from the Swedish Royal College of Music has spent 20 years examining how humans understand music on the most basic level to create this program that simplifies and digitizes musical creativity.

I was of course intrigued when I first met the ScoreCloud team and I'm working with them to figure out the most useful applications for musicians of all varieties. I'd love to hear what the violinist.com community thinks of such technology, and how they see it being useful in their performing, arranging, teaching lives. You can check out the program at www.scorecloud.com.

Feel free to get in touch with me directly (crista.bergendahl@doremir.com) if you would like to discuss offline.

Thanks so much!

Crista

If ScoreCloud will do the from-player-to-score effectively, the need for OCR pretty well disappears.

A program that could make an orchestral score into a piano or organ score, leaving the arranger to change it so as to make it entirely playable at the level envisaged, would also be useful.
