Sadly, my teacher of 3+ years will be leaving the area, she is my only violin teacher since I've started my first twinkle piece with her. I would like to play her a piece to thank her, but with my limited skills, and also super busy with orchestra and training for a marathon, I don't have much time left to put together anything to elaborate. I just got noticed that she'll be leaving in a month. I'm thinking about Rachmaninoff Vocalise, it's more of an expressive piece, so I don't have to spend 25 months learning the notes.
I listened to various versions on youtube, but it's different from the sheet music i printed off IMSLP. Seems like the 2nd time around, it's played one octave down, is it suppose to be on G string only?
also my version doesnt have those higher notes

June 1, 2012 at 05:21 PM · The original version is in C# minor for (wordless) soprano and orchestra. The usual violin arrangement is in E minor, although in Europe I have only found it in D minor, for copyright reasons.
Many violinists change octave here and there to show off their beautiful tone!
