May 31, 2012 at 11:03 PM · There are tons of violin music pieces based on Chinese music published in P.R.China. Some of them you can order from www.amazon.cn (the Chinese amazon site).

Mind you the books and titles are written in Chinese so unless you have someone translate them for you, you might have to take some chance when order. But the books are so inexpensive and the delivery is pretty reliable when you order online.

Here are a couple of examples:

Google Translate may be able to help with Chinese texts.

[Edit: if you use the Google Chrome browser it tranlates into English, on request, the Chinese Simplified Han text of the Amazon.ch links above.]

It is for violin, but I bought it for a collection of Chinese melodies to play on my erhu.

I haven't taken the time yet to learn to read the traditional Chinese notation for erhu, so I am still playing my erhu using treble clef notation, since it is tuned to the D and A strings, just like the two middle strings on violin.

It looks like a decent group of tunes for starters, at least...
