I've been looking at an electric "silent" violin for taking to the cabin (or outside) and for late night practice where my acoustic would be impractical. High humidity in this area and the acoustic is hand made. Don't care to cause it any problems.
I found a used Yamaha SV-110K electric violin that appears to be in good condition for $375. I've also been looking at the Mark Wood SV4 electric violins ($599) as they are less expensive than some of the others I've read about here and are said to be lightweight.
For those who might have experience with either, both, or none of the above instruments, which might be the better choice? If I could fashion a 2x4" stud with a bridge and strings I do it, but I'm not that talented.
Thanks in advance.

Seems like a good deal for the Yamaha. If it's for practice purpose, Yamaha should serve better for acoustic violin tone, and there's the traditional "shoulder" (upper bout) on the player side, while the SV4 does not where you might develop strange habit for higher position.
