Hello everyone! I am looking for suggestions for a shaped viola case for airline travel. (I have a perfectly ordinary oblong (heavy) Bobelock case that I use now, but have been told by several pro friends that I need a smaller shaped case in order to fly and not run into troubles). My viola is 16.5" but the lower bout is very wide at 10." I'm afraid of the really cheap cases (<$100), but don't think I can afford the really expensive BAM cases (>$500). Anyone have experience with the middle-range BAM cases like the Stylus or any other suggestions? Thank you!!

I don't know if this is the exact one, but it looks like this

Tonareli makes a pretty high quality fiberglass viola case that looks like (and stands up like) a cello case. Not much room for accessories though, there's just enough space for a viola, two bows, a shoulder rest, and maybe some rosin/strings. The interior is pretty no-frills.
Thanks for the responses!
@Corey - do you remember where you bought your Gewa case? I've tried to find them in the US, but each time I order they tell me that the manufacturer is out of stock
@Brian - are the Tonarelli cases pretty sturdy?

I've been on numerous tours across seas and all the violists had bobelock and had no problem.
I remember a friend who went to julliard said that, "if they want your instrument to go under the plane ... just raise hell and you'll be fine" ahha
But I have one that is great for travel "GEWA" its tear drop shaped and works well!
