My quartet is starting to get booked for weddings and gigs. Individually, we have all played at weddings, but in other groups where another member had already put together the music.
Our issue- we don't know where to start when it comes to selecting arrangements for the traditional wedding pieces. (Wedding March, etc.)
Suggestions? There are a lot of wedding books and arrangements out there!
Latham Music has a good selection. Also the Southern Mujsic collection has a good selection of titles though I haven't played through it yet, seems pretty comprehensive. I'm doing a wedding coming up where they want mostly sacred, and using some Don Hart arrangement which are very nice, don't remember the original publisher, but Latham is doing reprints I think.
The Last Resort series is the way to go. It's not perfect (such as a few pieces that fold out to three pages, which is something you don't need on a windy wedding day), but overall you can find music for any occasion. There are something like 6 books. You can get "music for 4" or "music for 3" although most of the parts don't overlap, or are in different keys. I once voiced complaint about this tactic, but the publisher was unsympathetic. I did, however, buy both sets, and usually play from the trio set. Hours of wedding fun.
There are a few other classics, such as the 2-volume whose name I can't remember but that everyone has.

with some very good arrangements in it.
Also Mozart divertimenti, Eine Kleine, a large number of standard quartets. I've been a subscriber for years - wonderful value.
Thank you! I'll definitely look into those. :)
Check out these arrangements....we use 'em all the time...ours are old and in Matt's manuscript hand but his new series is all machine print.

I've managed a wedding quartet in the Albuquerque, NM area for about 6 years now. We started out with a basic set of music, and have been adding to it ever since. Often, brides request music we don't have, so we'll search for it first then if we can't find it, we might make our own arrangement. We have several of Joel's arrangements and they work nicely. Here's our current repertoire list.
