I'm looking for rep. that features mezzo-soprano or alto voice and violin. Know of any?
You can't do better than "Erbarme Dich, Mein Gott" from Bach's St. Matthew Passion. It is frequently done with piano.
Consider the beautiful "Violons dan le soir" by Saint-Saens.
Vaughan Williams wrote an exquisite cycle of settings of poems by A. E. Housman called Along the Field for violin and voice. I think it was originally for violin and tenor, but I've heard recordings with a female voice.
Thanks for the suggestions guys! Does anyone know where I might find sheet music for the Vaughan Williams?
Here's a link to the Vaughan Williams:

It's really a beautiful, poignant work and deserves to be better known, but the combination of musicians is so unsual. It's somewhat like The Lark Ascending in that it combines modal English folk-melody with impressionistic effects. There are about five or six short songs, and naturally--as you would expect with A. E. Housman--the poems are mostly about country lads and country lasses dying young.
Thanks! I also found it on the Boosey and Hawkes site too.
At my local library I found compilations of Bach arias w/obligato instrument from the Cantatas, masses & Passions, divided into multiple volumes for each voice. It was Kalmus.
There is a very cool suite for violin and voice by villalobos, its called a menina e a cancao
