Sarasate Carmen Fantasy!!!

January 6, 2011 at 03:29 PM ·

  Hi!

I am looking for a quite lomg time ago the Sarasate Carmen Fantasy. He made (I think) two versions: the piano one and the orchestal one. But is not the same!!! The solois part changes in both versions. I could find the piano version,  a different one arrangement by Zimbalist and the orchestal parts (oboe, horns, strings, etc) of the orchestal version. But I cannot find the soloist part from the orchestal version with its piano reduction.

I would be very happy if someone can help me!!!

Thanks

I am not able to help on your inquiry. I like Gypsy Tunes of Sarasate. Do you know what good CDs are avalable?

Wei, personally I like Sarah Chang's "Fire and Ice" and Anne-Sophie Mutter's "Carmen Fantasie" albums.  They both contain passionate renditions of Carmen Fantasy, Zigeunerweisen, Ravel's Tzigane (another Gypsy inspired piece), and other popular pieces.  For an all Sarasate album, check out Gil Shaham's "Sarasate Virtuoso Violin Works."  Some of these (and other fine performances) are available on YouTube.

Javier, do you mean piano reduction of the orchestral version?  Why would someone go through the trouble of writing a piano reduction if Sarasate has already written the piano version?
