I am a beginner violinist and am looking for a classical violin/piano duet that is fun to play and interesting for both the violin and piano. I am currently working through the 3rd Suzuki book and have the piano accompaniment, but those pieces aren't as interesting for the piano. The pianist is not a beginner.
So is there a piece that a beginner violinist can manager that is fun for both violin and piano?
I can't remember the level of difficulty the Third Suzuki book is, but what about something like Beethoven's 'Ode to Joy'? It's one my students have loved.

There may be some Haydn and Handel and Mozart violin piano sonata movements that are no more dfficult than Suzuki book 3. But the piano parts certainly will be more interesting -- and the violinist will have to count lots of rests, but that will be good for you! Some will be a challenge, for sure, but once you work through the level of Book 4 you will be ready for a good bit of it (provided you can count - that is critical - otherwise you and the pianist are both better off with the Suzuki parts.
Try the CD-sheet music website, you can purchase a lifetime's worth of violin/piano sonatas on a CD-ROM for $20 plus postage, and get a good sampling of the literature.
