Last night, I bought Nicola Benedetti's album that has The Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams, and all the other pieces being by John Tavener. By Googling, I found that Tavener is a British composer and his music is modern.
It's so mysterious and beautiful to me and I really like it. It's almost like it has just a hint of an asian feel, the way some of the slides are articulated. The piece, Dhyana and of course the four part Lalishri Cycle are so beautiful. But apparently the Song For Athene is supposed to be a choral work so did Benedetti just do some amazing transposing?
But does anyone know where I can obtain this sheet music? Why is it that I always find a piece I wan't to learn and the sheet music is unobtainable :(
The only one I found at the moment was the Dhyana. I'll keep looking though.
Thanks :)
John Tavener, (1944 - )

Wow thank you, Clinton :)
iTunes has him listed as Sir John Tavener. If it's the same person, I listened to a few samples and am impressed. Thank you Paul for turning us on to him.

The CD booklet says the Tavener pieces are published by Chester Music. Maybe you can find something there?
