these from Shar? It looks great in the photo, but I'm always concerned about durability (particularly since my BAM case has been a disappointment, barely lasting six months.)
I'm in the market for a new violin case. Has anyone tried one ofI have the pink Lang case. But I am also a fashionista that needed a violin case that was as pretty as my designer handbag, not someone looking for a rugged, durable case. I'm super careful with my case and I've only scuffed one of the corners in the 3 months I've had it in an unfortunate stiletto-sidewalk incident a few weeks ago causing me to throw my violin a good 5 feet... Most of the marks were washed off with a little bit of Dawn on a paper towel and light scrubbing.
I have a feeling that if you wore out a BAM case then this is probably not the case for you, but otherwise I'd highly recommend it! It's SO pretty and even the Dean of my music school loves it!
I don't think I did anything to wear out my BAM case that was too unusual. I take it out of the house only about three times a week. I got a hole burned in it from a lightbulb, the music pouch on top keeps flopping off, and the backpack straps keep breaking. I think the Lang series are really pretty too, and I was going to get it in brown with the pink decorations so it wouldn't get dirty as fast. Thanks guys!
I recently bought a Lang "Cecelia" collection violin case. It has a light blue interior/exterior. It's not the most practical case in the world, but it is very beautiful. This line of violin cases is perhaps one of the most beautiful out there I feel. Most violin cases seem to come in dark colors and it is a breath of fresh air to find some that come in such beautiful colors as the Lang cases do.

December 1, 2007 at 04:02 PM · I think they are very pretty :) My thought is that if you destroyed a BAM in 6 months, it wouldn't hold up, though. I look at that lovely pastel pink, and sky blue, and wonder how long until it starts to get grunge marks. (I leave my case open a lot, and my cat jumps in whenever the instrument isn't taking up space.)
Good old Jaeger is probably what you need - but they do get the earth for them nowadays.
